Help! I'm Beggin' Ya!

I've got all of these cherries and peaches and I've been searching the web and perusing my cookbooks for something to do with them. The truth is...I really just want to eat them, but they will go bad before I'm done (I would hope!)

So, what would you make with a big bag of cherries and a basket of peaches?

Nothing like summer's abundance! First, I would make a crisp containing both of them, almonds in the topping if you please. Then, if you keep your fridge cold, I would note that you can probably refrigerate them and keep them longer than you think. I am just finishing a whopping bag of cherries purchase almost 2 weeks ago, and they are still in fine shape because they were so wonderful to start with. The peaches, peel and slice or chunk and freeze some treasures for the winter. Always MUCH better than what you can buy. You can also keep peaches for quite a spell in the fridge. Line your fruit drawer with some clean newspaper and lay in peaches, try not to touch too much, then you can put another layer of paper over them, etc. DH and I stretched 15 lbs of wonderful peaches over 5 weeks this way a couple years ago. Just take them out 2-3 at a time to finish reaching perfect ripeness on the counter. Be sure to select the ones you want to take out, as they will continue to ripen very slowly even in the fridge. Enjoy!
