As the Spirit and Two Men and a Truck moved me

I moved last week. I tried to de-clutter first, but find myself throwing away things that I moved. My kitchen, while larger than the one I had before, has less counter, cabinet, and drawer space. I realized that once I had my dishes in place, I had nowhere to store food. So I am on a quest for a small pantry.

The new place is old, but has all new stuff. New carpet, new cabinets, new appliances, new toilet. Very nice.

And while I almost never saw anyone I knew while out and about in Nashville, I ran into two co-workers while running errands this week-end.

My priorities for the move were simple:

Line up movers.
Arrange for power to be turned on.
Move.
Arrange for cable to be turned on.
Arrange for phone service/cable.
Get a library card.
Rent storage space.

So I spent the week-end unpacking and watching movies. I also read Carpe Demon by Julie Kenner. It is the story of a soccer mom with a past. She used to hunt demons for the Vatican. Now she spends her time with a teen-aged daughter and a two year old son and drives a mini-van. But demons are after her and she needs to get back into the groove of things. Very entertaining.

I am embarrassed to say that I watched Phat Girls while unpacking. Mo'nique is funny. She is not a great dramatic actress and should not try to be.

I NEED TO FIND MY POTS AND PANS! I'm living off of fruit and cheese, but really need to do some cooking. The good news is that I found my sheets and have been able to sleep in my bed the last two nights, and not on the couch.

And it takes me 15 minutes to get to work in the mornings. It should take longer, but my fellow drivers will not abide any maintaining the speed limit.

I hope to have my home computer up and running soon.
